Singing with the choir on a big national event - New Zealand haka

Yesterday I was singing together with the choir at a huge national event here in New Zealand, a funeral broadcasted at TV of Jonah Lomu, the greatest rugbystar, as I have understood. He passed away 2 weeks ago after having lived with a kidney discease for over 2 decades. It was such a cool event and so, so powerful!

It all started with a truly majestic maori haka when the coffin was being carried out on stage. We were standing behind it as you might see, and I had real troubles keeping the tears away when Jonahs wife and their two small boys went around the coffin paying their tributes.

We were leading the national anthem, so now I know that beautiful song in maori and english. It's really a beautiful national anthem. With my former swedish choir I have sung the south african and swedish national anthems on TV, so it seems like I'm collecting them, totally unintentially though.

Here I am wearing a traditional tongan outfit together with my lovely Auckland Gospel Choir fam. Such an honour being apart of both this choir and this event.

  2. Det är så roligt att se dina bilder från Auckland. En väns dotter är au pair i Auckland och visar också bilder därifrån! Hon stormtrivs och vem vet om hon försöker stanna kvar!
